After watching Batman Begins, a long time after it was released, in DVD, i was really disappointed that i missed it in the big screen... the batmobile chasing, the batman terrorizing and all the emotional turmoils of Bruce Wayne... it truly would have been an awesome experience...
This time i rushed to IMAX expecting the similar paced drama, instead what I got was about 150 mins of jaw dropping action. The Dark Knight is an entirely different genre from the Batman Begins. Right from the very first scene to the very last, the movie is uber fast and pumping. br> Nolan should be rightly credited to make an action movie, with not just brilliantly shot scenes, but some depth as well. Batman fans would know that, unlike any other comic-book super hero, batman has got his own emotions, his own dilemmas and beneath that scary suit he is just a man with all the strengths and weaknesses associated.
Now comes the best part. The Villain. I was expecting a great let down by the latest version of the joker. Quite frankly, i never thought anybody could play a better joker than mark Hamil in the Animated series. Instead i was in a shock and disbelief when i first saw heath ledger in the role. He portrayed a character that is just as cunning as it is psychopathic. I wouldn't complain if the movie was named THE Joker, because when he is on the screen, no matter how many batman or batpods are around, he is gonna grab your attention. I truly believe he is up with the all-time top villains of the big screen, if not he is the best of them.
Movie has got a great soundtrack, but somehow the pace of the movie doesn't rightly match the score. The score in itself is a masterpiece, but i guess something didn't quite match while editing. It is just a very minor let down considering the overall experience.
This movie is a spectacular sequel to the Batman begins. For people who don't really follow batman, it is a brilliant action film, easily the best one i have seen in a very long time. For the batman fans, it truly captures his crusade. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie in the big screens again- many times over.
